Colours of Life® prickly pear oil is obtained by cold-pressing the seeds of the Opuntia ficus indica L. plant, so that all the bioactive components it contains and consequently its beneficial properties remain unaltered.
The prickly pear plant is widespread throughout the world; its fruits are mainly consumed, but the cladodes are also used in the preparation of supplements, herbal teas and cosmetic products.
Finally, an oil rich in unsaturated fatty acids, particularly linoleic and oleic acids, and in Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, is extracted from the seeds.
It is considered among the most effective natural remedies in fighting free radicals and protecting skin and hair from the signs of ageing.
Prickly pear oil is light and easily absorbed. It has a healing, sebum-regulating and anti-inflammatory action, which is why
it is particularly used to combat acne and other skin inflammations.
Given its excellent antioxidant action, it is ideal as an ingredient for all anti-ageing products; thanks to the presence of tocopherols, it preserves
the skin from damage caused by smog, UV rays and cold temperatures.
